It's a Chinese buffet. It was good. Food seemed fresh to me. Sushi was good but I would have like to have seen a bigger selection. The habachi was the best to me. It's kind of hidden by the sushi but I enjoyed that most.

I give this place 5 stars, why? Well, first off it's $13.99 for dinner per person (you'd never find that in Toronto). Second, if you've ever had Western Chinese food (or even Chinese buffet) you'd know this place was actually decent in terms of flavour and taste! I've been to Zhang's on many occasions. Yesterday, it happened to be Father's Day and they were having a crab leg special! Everything tasted great! Sushi was to standard, rice and rolls were done right, hot foods were hot and included a wide variety of dishes, even seafood. As for dessert, I would skip the pastries and just go for the soft serve or fruits. Overall I've only had positive experiences here & service is as you expect at a buffet, not as attentive and servers only come around to clear dishes or grab refills.

I kind of expected better based on how flashy the joint is on the outside. Inside there was kind of a weird smell (stagnant water from the pond thing?), and a sense of dilapidation. I think this place had a glory day it has since passed. There were signs of the old flash such as the ceiling, the front pond, an empty bar, but things are kind of falling apart inside. Food- meh. I'll take my local take-out joint over this and I've been to better Chinese buffets in the past. They are interesting in that they do sushi, have miso soup, and a few other Japanese influences floating around.

You zhang, my lord? Hopefully not. You would think that with a name like this, they would serve Lamb Zhank and Flzhank Steak. But no. How about Zhangers and Mash? Nope. OK, sure, I admit that it's a cool concept, go in and eat as much seafood and hearfood and feelfood as you want, but the food quality here, as with many Chinese or Mongolian or Taiwanese or Western Samoan buffets, is very low quality. The cool thing (and the reason for 2 instead of 1 stars) is that you can get food freshly cooked for you if you choose the ingredients and take it to the chef. The main problem though is not the lack of taste or freshness. It's the fact that I always seem to get an upset tummy after eating here. It's also a bit more expensive than your typical OCB type place.

If you don't like Zhang's you don't like Chinese buffets. I don't get an upset stomach or the trots so I don't know what some diners' problems may be. If you don't want what they already have out you can choose your own fresh food and they will cook it for you on the spot. Some still complain, proving some folks just can't be pleased. It costs more than many CBs but it's bigger and better than most so there you go. Folks, please help the public by posting objective comments only. Take your frustrations out elsewhere please.

Maybe I'm being generous in my rating but I love this place and the food! Rice, noodles, beef, chicken, pork...the choices are unlimited as to what you can eat here. Clean dining room, efficient staffing keeps your table clean while your up at the line adding more food to your plates. Food is great tho! They serve seafood fried and raw.. Have not tried it yet. (Scared too)

Great Mongolian Buffet section, rest of the food is decent but not spectacular. Went in with a friend fluent in the Dialect the workers were speaking in. Halfway through our meal he stood up, threw money on the table and asked us to leave. As we left he spoke to the worker who turned red then purple. Once outside he explained that the servers were discussing our physical attributes (we are large people, i'll give them that) and how they wanted to close early and would have if the "round eyed white devils hadn't shown up". He had told the worker that he understood what was said and that you never know who speaks your language. Haven't been back since and don't think I'll bother to go back.

Worst chinese food i have ever had. Food is seriously horrible here and it is over priced. I really love chinese food, so few people suggested me to go to zhangs. This is why I wanted to explore this place. My husband and I went for a buffet here. Every single item was tasting so sweet. I like my food to be salty and spicy, atleast I dont expect it to taste sweet. I just could not finish a single dish that i had on my plate. Desserts are suppose to be sweet, not the noodles or the lo mein. Man, that is not how you prepare chinese food. It was like wasting time, money and punishment eating food at zhangs. If you are looking for authentic chinese you should try miss hot cafe at sheridan drive. Food is yummy, its spicy and it does not taste sweet at all. Also you can explore pf changs in walden galleria mall. Good food with a fine spice level. After having buffet at zhangs, my love for chinese food was almost over. Thank god we have places like miss hot cafe and pf changs here in buffalo.

Disclosure: This review is being written by the same girl who was very recently cautioned about such restaurants by the nice exterminator... So, welcome to Zhang's where you can dine under the sparkly faux crystal chandeliers and among the great unwashed and tattooed. The embroidered pictures were interesting to behold: stained, torn and scotch taped into warped matting. The place was unswept and sticky. I don't love buffets, and don't frequent them, but... Grace and I went on a whim because my #3 son was playing baseball against Cheektowaga high school, and this place was right across the street. PLUS the pictures in the Clipper magazine have always made the restaurant look all shiny and safe. I didn't finish any of the spoonfulls that I put on my plastic dish. I couldn't. I was starving, and I still couldn't manage to chew and swallow...mainly because the sh!t wasn't worth the calories and fat. The spring rolls were alright....The lo mein: greasy, chewy and barely warm. Yuck. Fried rice was dried out. The nice Asian lady would bring new trays of slop out such as Kung Po, but it was fried to death. Burned. Ick, my stomach is turning while I write this. Trying to be *good* I piled on the vegetables, but too were saturated in salty greasy slar. I picked up a cheese and pepperoni egg roll for Grace on my 2nd trip up - just for fun, but it was inedible. The eggroll was tough, the cheese was hard and cold, and the pepperoni was grey. None of the fud was hot. The desserts were the typical strange buffet offerings - dried out pasteries made with whipped plastic, honey nut things, jello (yummmm), hunks of bananas ladeled with red matter. Oh, and soft serve. Grainy, fake vanilla flavored soft serve. I should have scraped my dish directly into the toilet because that is exactly where my 30 bucks ended up 2 1/2 minutes after I got home.

Tonight, we decided to try a new Chinese restaurant for carryout. I called and ordered for the family and the lady said it would only be 10-15 minutes (food for 6 people). We went over and our order was ready. The food was reasonably priced and there were large portions. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken which was delicious and spring rolls that were perfectly cooked. My husband had the beef lo mein which delicious and the beef was tasty and tender. We also ordered boiled dumplings which were better than any dumplings I have ordered previously. This is definitely a great place to go for Chinese food and we will definitely return soon!

Went here for lunch with a bunch of people from work. It was very reasonably priced. We went right at noon, but had no problem getting seated right away. The waitstaff were very nice and the food was good. The kitchen staff made sure the food on the buffet was replenished before anything ran out and there was a nice selection, including a sushi bar, a salad bar, and a dessert bar. It's not the best chinese food ever, but it's very good for being a buffet. I will definitely be going back for lunch.

The food was average, service for refills was quick, the freshness was good at least, but the sushi wasn't up to par. I've had very good sushi from Chinese buffets but this was not some of it. Otherwise, clean facility, decent food and good service, I would return if I weren't visiting from Houston, TX.

This is our favorite place to go for Chinese. The buffet has a lot of Asian choices, plus some American food and a good size salad bar. The food is real good. So many things I adore there. The wonton soup is very good. Not watered down like other places. The stirfry station is cool...we like customizing our stirfry. My kids adore this place. My son always wants to go there, just for these little meatballs they have :) We've always had great service there. And they are always refilling the buffet, as long as you are there when it's busier. Sometimes, if you're there at a quiet time, the stuff gets a bit cold because it's sitting out. Only downside is the dessert bar. The little cakes are dry and not very tasty. But I don't go here for dessert. :)

This buffet was within walking distance of my hotel so i decided to try it. The selection was great. There were 6 tables, a sushi station, and a station for made to order stir fry. The food here was fresh and very tasty....well except the fried rice which was hard as hell and resembled rabbit pellets. They had tons of seafood options which is great for a seafood lover like me. All of this and it was just $9.99. Can't beat it.

Price is decent if you eat seafood. They had raw clams when I went and they also had soft serve ice cream :) I felt that too many items were fried. The mussels were soaked in 2-3inches of butter oil. The salmon was soaked in 4-5 inches of butter oil. If they rid the butter soaking and less fried foods I'd give it a 4 star. Overall the decor was very nice. This is the nicest decorated interior I've seen for a buffet.

Today I went to Zhangs because my sister was craving it and my mom had a 10% off coupon so we all decided to go to lunch. The buffet has a good variety. I usually get fried rice, black pepper chicken, honey chicken, sweet and sour chicken, and lo mein (depending on how hungry i am!). The service is very quick, we're seated right away, promptly asked what we'd like to drink and off we go to help ourselves to some food. I wouldnt say this restaurant has better chinese than the average place around here but what they do have is black pepper chicken, not something I often find. When I first came here about five years ago I really liked it, but recently I'm a bit disappointed in how hard and small the pieces of black pepper chicken are. They're not tender at all, I'm not sure if its because I always get the bottom of the batch or what. Today it seemed to be fresh out of the kitchen and still the chicken was hard and far too crunchy. The honey chicken on the other hand was very tender and I ended up enjoying it much more. They also offer a variety of deserts and fruit if you're still hungry. Also if you do have a coupon you need to present it before sitting down. I give this place three stars simply because the black pepper chicken has been so disappointing I probably won't return anytime soon.

Use to love this place. My wife and I would go for dinner all The time but they never get to have crabs legs. Due to them not puttin them out. When you ask about them thay give the same answer we are doing the best we can. Yet no crab legs. We never complained cause the food is good. We were there the other and at 3pm they up out crabs legs so we went and got crabs legs. We were told that we couldn't eat any more unless we wanted to pay dinner price. We had gotten there at 2:50 to eat and only had one plate. I had asked for the manger and told her of our past experiences and how we should be able to eat at lunch price. Got the same answer we do the best we can and you can stay if you want to pay dinner price. Needless to say we paid and left for our lunch and will never go back.

One of the office traditions where I work is "Chinese Thursday" so I expected the people here to know their Chinese. Most everyone orders take out from Green Jade normally. Today we decided to venture as a group to Zhang's. Now I'm not very familiar with the Cheektowaga area, but I've yet to be impressed with my food experiences. When I hear the word "buffet" I try to tell myself that means mediocre at best. I enjoy a wide variety of foods but when it comes to Chinese - I really don't expect much more from it. Walking into Zhang's was like walking into your typical Chinese restaurant. There was a little waterfall in the entrance and traditional Chinese inspired decor. I had to laugh at a sign that was posted on this empty pagoda that was sitting in the middle of the restaurant : "All liquor will temporarily be unavailable." Bummer. The interior of this place is well kept, I was actually impressed at the cleanliness - except some of the chairs could use new fabric. Let's get to the good stuff though - the food. Wah-wah-wah YUCK. The problem with buffets in my experience is that the food just sits there. It's steaming and if served in a sauce (like General Tso) can become extremely mushy. [ $7.49 for an Adult for the Lunch Buffet ] Cons : Anything with the word "spicy" on it was not spicy AT ALL. General Tso - mushy, flavorless Teriyaki - bland, no flavor what-so ever Sushi - I'm the type who has to try everything but as a rule of thumb I would advise that sushi is only good when it is at its freshest. Otherwise you're wasting your time - as I did. Stuffed Shrimp, Mushrooms, Mussels - all bland, flavorless I had given up at this point and my plates got smaller and smaller - not because I was getting full but because I really had nothing more I wanted to try. I even got nostalgic when I saw the good ol' ice cream machine (Ponderosa's what!) but quickly the bubble burst when there were no toppings in sight. A bowl of walnuts...really? Pros : Crab Rangoon - impossible to screw up anything with cream cheese as the main ingredient. Matter of fact anything that was fried there was probably the only half-way decent item - that really doesn't say much. Cheesy Broccoli - again, the cheese patrol. Being efficient is a must when dealing with the nature of the buffet beast and the staff ran the floor very well. Boss paid for lunch - what a great guy! To end our visit we all read our fortune cookies aloud (ofcourse you have to end it with "in bed" ) and the highlight came from the one and only lady at the table (me) : "Your innovation is about to explode - in bed." Needless to say I won that one. Stick to your favorite take out people - you're not missing anything here.

I was looking at reviews on this place on a different web site due to the lack of feed back from yelpers. The reviews talked about how awful this place was and how rude the waitresses are. No... The wait staff was very nice and attentive toward us. There were many selections, your stand bys and some other creative things including octopus! The restaurant was very clean. The decor was nice. The food was yymmy. I only gave it 4 stars because it wasn't "amazing" and some of the things on buffet were not hot- having worked at a buffet in the past though I know this is practically impossible unless you want to charge a lot of money due to food waste and temps. Bottom line, I will go back here. It was 8.99 for our lunch (9.99) dinner. And 1.25 for bottomless bevs. Where else can you get all you can eat sea food at that price?

Offers good value for a low price. If you don't want Chinese food, there are many other selections like pizza, fried chicken, and shrimp. Always busy, which is a good thing if you are eating at a buffet. A little noisy, but not too bad. Really nicely remodeled. Wait staff is busy, but try to do a good job. Great selection, everything one could want.
